Scarborough Fair tea is grown in the misty highlands in central Sri Lanka. Because we only use Fairtrade sourced tea, not only are we creating a better quality of life for the local community, we are adding to the quality of Scarborough Fair tea. For example, workers at Idulgashinna use handmade woven harvest baskets which cost 100 rupees. These baskets keep the tea fresh from the fields to the factory which is located right on the estate. In neighbouring non-Fairtrade communities, the tea is picked and packed into plastic bags which cost 20 rupees. The bags are then driven three hours to the nearest factory during which time the leaves wither and lose vitality.
Scarborough Fair Black Tea variants are Fairtrade-certified 100% Pure Ceylon tea.
